IN WHICH I PERSUADE YOU TO READ REVELATION
+book with art from Banksy | spending time with my pup | hang dryin | watching exit through the gift shop with my boy | taking a picture of the largest slug in California+
My today was good. It was normal with wonderful weather, quality time with a friend, and an evening spent with my Jeffrey.
This morning I spent time with Turbo and the laundry, while listening to my church's series on the book of Revelation. Folded clothes before noon? Pure accomplishment. Solid preaching on the end times whilst sorting underwear from socks? Spiritually enlightening.
The book of Revelation always scared me as a young girl, and up until recently I was nervous to open this mysterious book full of end times prophecy. To say I was scared as a young girl is really an understatement, I was terrified of reading Revelation. Let me give you a slight taste. I went to a private, Christian school from 5th grade to high school and in first period our teachers led a Bible study to start off the day. Each teacher conducted their studies differently, but most read scriptures or some sort of study book. Well, in 7th grade we would read an entire chapter each day, and slowly work our way through books of the Bible. This happened to be the same year as 9/11, so I was already on a sensitive high. Due to the 9/11 prophecy hype my class voted we read through Revelation each morning. I about lost my noodles, guys. The last thing I wanted to do was read through the very book that was going to dictate the end of my life as I knew it. Not to mention my fears of being "Left Behind" even though I knew I was a Christian. So I took matters into my own hands; I plugged my ears every single morning, through all 22 chapters of Revelation. I didn't want to hear it, I didn't want to know.
But guys, I was missing the point. I was missing SO many big things. I'm proud to say that 12 years later, I've come around and I'm thrilled to be studying the book of Revelation. This book is full of God's intense love for His children. All of the wrath you read about? It's for those who seek to harm His children. Our God is fierce for His children, and in the end? He wins, we win. There's a lot of debate that takes place in this book, but I think it's healthy conversation. The debates have allowed me to dig deeper in my faith and draw closer to my Father. I want to know Him so well that I can discern what He would or wouldn't let His children endure. I don't know that God will ever fully reveal Himself, until the day of the Lord, but until then I can climb further into the scriptures and run with the words that He speaks to me. It's cool and it's big and it's comforting. You should read it. It can be confusing so go through it with others, find podcasts, and ask questions. Jeff and I are listening to it alongside a group of friends and we've been able to come together and talk things through. Right now I'm learning about the tribulation and the 4 Horsemen. It's intense friends. Our world has never been in a worse place, so distant from our Father...I never imagined I'd crave the end times, but I do. I'm ready for the Father to take His people home.
day in the city | blogger date
Last weekend I met up with one of my favorite designers/bloggers, Michaela, in the city! We had been trying to get together for almost a year now and our schedules never matched up until just recently. She is such a stylish, fun girl and I'm so thankful we've been able to form a friendship through blogging. How cool is that? It was so great to finally hang out and spend the day together!
We started out at the Flower Mart where we pieced together a beautiful bouquet. You can find all the details to that DIY here on Michaela's blog! It was the coolest place..literally a warehouse full of gorgeous buckets of flowers. It's pretty much a farmer's market for just flowers. You can't go wrong with that!
Then we went a little picture crazy to make sure we captured the prettiness of our bouquet :D
yes i'm fully aware the right side of my hair is having a friz crisis...let's just move past it and blame the bay area weather :)
AND can I just say I would LOVE to come back to the Flower Mart for a full-on photo shoot. Please, someone take me up on this offer? I promise your pictures will be colorful, and pretty :)
After the Flower Mart we spent some time shopping around the city and just chatting. It was a great day and I can't wait til we can meet up again! Don't forget to go say hello to her and check out her DIY bouquet post HERE.

Coffee, a planner and a purse
As we speak, I am sitting on our bed with F.R.I.E.N.D.S season 5 playing in the background while Mr and his best friend play Skyrim in the living room. It's a one player, xbox game so naturally his friend brought over his own TV so they could play together. Geeks. But I love it. Our room is clean, belly's are full and I don't have to work for another week. I'd say I'm thoroughly enjoying tonight and soakin up the happiness. I also need to mention that I'm proud owner of a dot com now! All readers will automatically be redirected but just so we're all up to speed I am now nicoledianne.com :)

So as of lately
We spent the night hanging out at a local coffee shop a few days ago, and I quite enjoyed myself. Notice my new planner? I basically never want 2012 to end just so I can use this planner for the rest of time. Oh, and Mr has sufficiently made fun of my decision making process over buying the perfect one. Clearly he doesn't understand the importance of finding the very best :) See if I write down his important appointments pshh..
Out back of the coffee shop there's twinkle lights, heaters and a fire pit. I wouldn't be upset my backyard looked like this someday.
In other news, we've been spending a lot of time with our friendlies lately. Blonde boy on the left is a musician and scored an entire movie over the last couple months. His movie debuted this week so we all dressed up and had a night out in honor of him and his awesome accomplishment.
I'll be in a wedding this weekend so we had a bachelorette party for the lovely lady in purple. And yes, we are drinking out of boy part straws. I enlarged the picture for your viewing pleasure...wait what?
And last but not least..
Say hello to my new purse. I begged and pleaded with Mr to let me buy this, it's only my fourth purse in four years including my $4 thrift store find..so I indulged and I'm most pleased :) Happy wife happy life, yes?

I'll be off to wedding festivities for the rest of this weekend so here's to hoping I last longer than 10 minutes in my heels.
R&R part four: Open House
Oh hey, remember when I was recapping R&R like twelve years ago? Let's continue..
Mr and I got home from Santa Cruz and spent the rest of his time here with friends and family. The night we got home was spent with my best friend and her hubby before he left for more Coast Guard training. We played Mexican train and drank $1 bottles of champagne out of $1 wine glasses..we like to keep things classy.
Friday night Mr and I went to a baseball game. My friend is the MC and was able to hook us up with a pair of free tickets. Awesome right? :) Our team lost but we drank $9 beers and had lots of fun!
After the game we got some fro-yo mmmm...
On Saturday we had an open house where everyone could come see Mr and hang out! We had a pretty good turn out and everyone seemed to have a good time.
yumminess..
Our bearded friend, Brad and my lovely lady friend Krista..we're friends in real life.. not just on blogs ;)

the ping pong hats were absolutely necessary
yumminess..
Mr and I had a child...
or maybe I just wanted to steal this one. Not only is this baby girl the cutest thing you've ever seen..but look at Mr Tenderness himself? sigh..
The rest of the night was spent drinking with our buddies..(Has there been one post with out alcohol in it yet? The man has been deprived of any fun for months, so please don't think we're outrageous).
The open house was a success and at one point in the night there may or may not have been a group of grown adults playing ring-around-the-rosie for thirty minutes. Oh the power of a cute three-year old..
Come back for more tomorrow! There's tattoos involved.. oooh the suspense!
she is the very best friend I ever did have
Everyone needs to get themselves a Linard in their life,
she's my super rad best friend.
She lets me vent about anything and everyone.. ahem everything.
She and her hubs are always there for me,
Lindard brings me flowers on military spouse appreciation days and always has goodies
to bake when I come over.
She's there to celebrate birthdays and is all around stupendous.
Ross, the hubs is pretty cool too
whether he is notifying me of the eviction notice I'll be receiving as a result for cutting flowers
around my apartment complex [which btw Ross, I have yet to see..]
or watching Gay's Anatomy with us [as he coined the term]
it's nice to have him around.
I'm a blessed gal to have Linard and Ross in my life.
Congrats to the graduate I'm so proud of her!
