Welcome, October

I started last year's October post with the same title. I'm so original.

As of today, I have officially worn sweats, drank hot chocolate, burned Fall candles, and purchased a gourd. It's safe to say that Fall has landed in our corner of town.

I thoroughly enjoy this time of year now that I don't have school. I never understood why everybody loved Fall so passionately, but now I do. It's fabulous.

Also, hazelnut chai's are my jam right now. Not so great for your health, but sometimes that's a sacrifice I'm willing to take.

Apple Hill

Earlier last month my family took a day trip to Apple Hill, famous for clusters of apple orchards scattered through winding roads, freshly squeezed apple cider, and all sorts of apple goodies. I loved going there as a little girl because it was always significant in my mind as the official start of Fall. The same was true for me and my twenty-something self.

Most of the orchards are accompanied by a sort of craft fair where they sell home made treats and crafts. I should have taken more pictures of all the fun little trinkets...but I was soaking in all things that "my little-girl-at-heart" associated with the official start of Fall so I forgot to grab the camera for some of my favorite spots :)

welcome, october!

please bring Fall with you soon. summer weather is so overrated this time of year and I'm ready for all your red leaves.

oh, and I DO have more in my house than this TV stand. promise I'll share more soon

Fall Decor

Our weather in California finally changed to Fall.. the day after Halloween, better late than never right? There's something uncomfortable about fall decorations and caramel apple spice drinks when the weather outside is 85 degrees. But, over the last week or so we've seen daily showers and mid to upper 50s so now I can officially enjoy burning my Martha Stewart candied caramel pecan candle (given to me by my amazing best friend) and bundling myself up for a cozy night in.

The semester is about 3/4 of the way through and I'm almost positive it's going to kill me soon. But I'm not an A+ student so I gave myself a little time off to craft this "Thanks" banner. I'm pretty much over school and ready for the holiday season to be fully under way! Here's what my house will look like for the next 20 or so days!

Sure I love Fall but only because it's the season before the most wonderful time of the year. We may or may not have spent last night going through Lindsay's Christmas decorations while listening to Pandora's Christmas radio... ;) I will neither confirm nor deny..

long time coming

I've waited a year to say happy fall 2011.

Is it because my favorite season is fall? Hmm..let's see..

It could have a little something to do with salted caramel mochas floating around in Starbucks nationwide. I may or may not be guilty of filling cups with whipped cream, caramel drizzle and roasted sea salt..eating it like ice cream then acting like it didn't happen, but I prefer not to say.

Maybe I wanted to remind y'all that the seasons are changing. Like, if it wasn't for me you wouldn't understand why the leaves are changing color and why cool weather entered the picture again. You're welcome.
Or just maybe I've waited all year to wish you a Happy Fall, because it's the season of.. Mr coming home!!! Freakin jeez....are you serious? It's already here?

So of course I can't give you dates because OPSEC...duh. Operation keep Mr's unit safe as they travel. But I can tell you the season, and the season of Fall is a good one this year, my friends.

For the reasons above as well, but mainly because the Mr and Mrs will be together again.

Sigh..

Happy Sunday but more importantly Happy Fall!

seasons

the transition between seasons is refreshing. just when i cant stand the scorch of summer, leaves make their way south. colors change and light breezes swoop through the valley. sipping on pumpkin spice lattes peppered with cinnamon, on days just cold enough to wear cuffed pants and cardigans but not so cold that a pair of flip flops won't suit.

undoubtedly, the smell of spice permeating throughout my home and summer flowers replaced by splashes of warm toned accents will fill my spirits with fall. my text books will fall open more often than not as the semester unfolds, but partnered with fall festivities, motivation will reign through.

pumpkin patch trips, candy corn filled aisles, hot apple cider and the like, play over in my mind as the season shows itself more each day.

the cool breeze will blow, the leaves will change color and the official start of the new season will make its grand appearance before i know it.
